Instant Favorites: California Camping Locations and Trails
As the year comes to a close, we’d like to take a moment to give thanks to our clients for their support and for their amazing photos which captured their off trail vehicle adventures from around the world. Bringing it back to our home state, California, we would like to feature the top camping locations of the year which are also popular in the OHV community. In no specific order, here are our top favorite campgrounds in California with off road trails. Okay, and some are just awesome trails near camp sites.
Camp Coyote Acres - Located in Johnson Valley, they have epic desert trails for all types of rides! Also, there’s a shop on location with tools and air.
Phillips Loop - A scenic 6 mile loop trail located in the Calico Mountains, plus you can visit their notorious ghost town!
Speakeasy Lodge - Perfect for large groups, there’s 7K acres dedicated to off roading. The lodge itself sits 300 above sea level and overlook the valley of Cuyama. Stargazing at night is incredible!
Rainbow Basin - One of the most beautiful and mysterious locations in the Mojave Desert. 8 miles north of Barstow, enjoy the super cool geological features while you drive through on a 4x4 vehicle.
Lytle Creek Ridge - Cross over the San Bernardino Forest for amazing views on this trail. There are various campsites found throughout the forest as well as hiking, fishing, winter sports and more!
Cajon Bypass - Also in the San Bernardino Forest area, some love to kill time at this trail on their way to or from Las Vegas. Why? Too much traffic on the main road! If you’d like to venture out without camping, take a ride through here.
Red Canyon OHV Trail - Offers breathtaking views of the valley and is rated as difficult for first timers. Accessible year round, this 27 mile trail is located near Mecca, California.
Sky Valley Ranch Campsite - This is a rustic, desert ranch environment which serves peace and quiet at night. But the dirt trails offer plenty of fun during the day. Make sure you bring all the essentials for your next desert camping trip in California!
